What is in this deck

With this deck you learn Spanish at level A2: 315 cards with full sentences, plus pronunciation, a note on the form and two words from the same context.

After the beginning comes everyday life: shopping, booking a room, calling in sick, moving a meeting, telling someone about yesterday. These 315 cards are the phrases that carry those moments, arranged in ten chapters.

Every card shows a whole sentence, because at A2 the construction is what counts: that tener que carries obligation, that quedar means to arrange to meet, that the two past tenses do different jobs.

The back gives the pronunciation, the note that explains the construction, and two words from the same field.

The categories decide what comes up: start with “Shopping and money” alone and add the rest when you are ready.

You learn Spanish. The cards, the categories and the usage notes are in English, so you never have to learn through a third language.

What you learn

  • 315 phrases for shopping, travel, work and housing
  • The two past tenses and when each one applies
  • tener que, hay que, ir a: duty and the near future
  • Feelings and character, built right with ser and estar
  • Phone and plans: quedar, avisar, colgar

The categories

10 categories sort the 315 cards. You can filter by category and take on what is due right now.

  1. Shopping and money
  2. Travel and lodging
  3. Work and applications
  4. Feelings and character
  5. Health and prevention
  6. Home and neighbours
  7. Plans and phone calls
  8. Media and devices
  9. Telling the past
  10. Plans and the future

What you get

Here are three of the 315 cards you get when you buy the deck.

With foreign-language content the answers are read aloud as well, so you know how the words and sentences are pronounced.

  1. Question

    How much does this cost?

    Answer

    ¿Cuánto cuesta esto?

    Note

[ˈkwanto ˈkwesta] · costar shifts o to ue, used mostly in the third person · Word field: cuestan (they cost), precio (the price)

  2. Question

    That is too expensive.

    Answer

    Es demasiado caro.

    Note

[demaˈsjado ˈkaro] · demasiado never changes before an adjective · Word field: carísimo (very expensive), barato (cheap)

  3. Question

    Do you have it cheaper?

    Answer

    ¿Lo tiene más barato?

    Note

[mas baˈrato] · más plus adjective forms the comparison · Word field: menos (less), rebaja (the discount)

Learning with Qardbox

You see a card, you think, you turn it over and say whether you knew it. A round asks nothing more of you, and how the app works out the next date from that is on the page about FSRS-6.

What sits comes back less often, what wobbles comes back soon. You set a daily goal, and when nothing is due the app tells you exactly that instead of inventing work for you. How a round goes is shown on the learning page.

Everything stays on your device. No account, no sign-up, no ads. After the purchase the deck sits in your library like any other subject and can be studied, reordered and extended just like your own.

What it costs, and what it doesn’t

Qardbox itself costs nothing, and it stays that way. Every function is there from the start, with no subscription, no ads and no tiers; what that rests on is on the page about what it costs.

Your own cards stay unlimited, and decks from friends or from the family you read in without a limit, from a file as well. You do not need this deck in order to learn with Qardbox.

It is a shortcut: 315 checked cards for €1.99, once, with Family Sharing. The work you would otherwise do is already done. The App Store shows the price in your currency.
