What is in this deck

With this deck you learn Spanish for a holiday flat at level B1: 180 cards for the sentences that really come up, from handover to complaint.

No quiero quejarme, pero… That opening saves more conversations than any single word.

180 cards in eight parts: ¿Sería posible recoger la llave más tarde? La habitación no estaba limpia al llegar. Ask like that and you get an answer, not an argument.

Added to that is what a breakage costs in words: el cerrajero, el diferencial, la llave de paso, el seguro. The verbs appear in the form a guest really uses, with pronunciation.

The categories decide what comes up: start with “Introductions” alone and add the rest when you are ready.

You learn Spanish. The cards, the categories and the usage notes are in English, so you never have to learn through a third language.

What you learn

  • 180 Spanish cards for reasoned requests
  • ¿Sería posible…? the polite request
  • Saying what is not right in the flat
  • El cerrajero, el diferencial, el seguro
  • Subordinate clauses with si and cuando

The categories

8 categories sort the 180 cards. You can filter by category and take on what is due right now.

  1. Introductions
  2. Arrival
  3. The place itself
  4. Problems and missing things
  5. When something breaks
  6. Leaving and keys
  7. Tips for the area
  8. Thanks and coming back

What you get

Here are three of the 180 cards you get when you buy the deck.

With foreign-language content the answers are read aloud as well, so you know how the words and sentences are pronounced.

  1. Question

We chose your flat because of the location.

    Answer

Elegimos su piso por la ubicación.

    Note

[poɾ la uβikaˈθjon] · In Spain c before e and i and also z sound like the English th.

  2. Question

    Your reviews convinced us.

    Answer

    Sus valoraciones nos convencieron.

    Note

[nos kombenˈθjeɾon] · The verb carries a reflexive word, without it the meaning changes.

  3. Question

We travel light, which makes a lot easier.

    Answer

Viajamos con poco equipaje, así todo es más fácil.

    Note

[kom ˈpoko ekiˈpaxe] · The j sounds like the ch in Scottish “loch”.

Learning with Qardbox

You see a card, you think, you turn it over and say whether you knew it. A round asks nothing more of you, and how the app works out the next date from that is on the page about FSRS-6.

What sits comes back less often, what wobbles comes back soon. You set a daily goal, and when nothing is due the app tells you exactly that instead of inventing work for you. How a round goes is shown on the learning page.

Everything stays on your device. No account, no sign-up, no ads. After the purchase the deck sits in your library like any other subject and can be studied, reordered and extended just like your own.

What it costs, and what it doesn’t

Qardbox itself costs nothing, and it stays that way. Every function is there from the start, with no subscription, no ads and no tiers; what that rests on is on the page about what it costs.

Your own cards stay unlimited, and decks from friends or from the family you read in without a limit, from a file as well. You do not need this deck in order to learn with Qardbox.

It is a shortcut: 180 checked cards for €1.49, once, with Family Sharing. The work you would otherwise do is already done. The App Store shows the price in your currency.
