What is in this deck
With this deck you learn the safety standards of an American construction site: the four hazards that cause most deaths, and the numbers the rules attach to them.
Four hazards kill most of the people who die on American construction sites: falls, being struck by something, being caught in or between something, and electrocution. Everything in 29 CFR 1926 circles back to those four.
102 cards on the standards and the numbers that go with them. Six feet for fall protection and ten for scaffolds. Forty-two inches of guardrail and two hundred pounds of force. Five feet of trench and three thousand pounds a cubic yard. The figures are the standard; the reasons are on the back of the card.
Written from the OSHA standards and the agency's own guidance, both works of the United States government and in the public domain. This is not an OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 card. Only an authorised trainer issues those.
The categories decide what comes up: start with “Confined space” alone and add the rest when you are ready.
What you learn
- The Focus Four hazards and the rules built around them
- Fall protection: heights, systems, forces and rescue
- Excavation: soil types, slopes, egress and inspection
- Lockout, GFCI and the clearances around power lines
- Your rights, the reporting deadlines and who is competent

What you get
Here are three of the 102 cards you get when you buy the deck.
Question
Which OSHA standard covers construction work?
Answer
29 CFR Part 1926. General industry is Part 1910, and a construction site is judged by 1926.
Note
Where 1926 is silent, 1910 can still apply; the two parts are read together, not as alternatives.
Question
What does the General Duty Clause require?
Answer
A workplace free from recognized hazards likely to cause death or serious physical harm, even where no specific standard exists.
Note
Section 5(a)(1) of the OSH Act. It is how heat illness and workplace violence are cited in the absence of a rule.
Question
What are the Focus Four hazards in construction?
Answer
Falls, struck-by, caught-in or between, and electrocution. They account for most construction deaths.
Note
Falls alone are about a third of the total, which is why the fall standard is the most cited of all.
Learning with Qardbox
You see a card, you think, you turn it over and say whether you knew it. A round asks nothing more of you, and how the app works out the next date from that is on the page about FSRS-6.
What sits comes back less often, what wobbles comes back soon. You set a daily goal, and when nothing is due the app tells you exactly that instead of inventing work for you. How a round goes is shown on the learning page.
Everything stays on your device. No account, no sign-up, no ads. After the purchase the deck sits in your library like any other subject and can be studied, reordered and extended just like your own.
What it costs, and what it doesn’t
Qardbox itself costs nothing, and it stays that way. Every function is there from the start, with no subscription, no ads and no tiers; what that rests on is on the page about what it costs.
Your own cards stay unlimited, and decks from friends or from the family you read in without a limit, from a file as well. You do not need this deck in order to learn with Qardbox.
It is a shortcut: 102 checked cards for €0.99, once, with Family Sharing. The work you would otherwise do is already done. The App Store shows the price in your currency.
Common questions
Do I have to pay for Qardbox?

How many cards are in Construction Safety (US)?
102 cards, sorted into 9 categories.
Do I need a connection to study?
Only to download the deck. After that it lives on your device and you study offline. There is no account, and you sign in nowhere.
Which devices does this run on?
On iPhone and iPad from iOS 26, and on Apple Watch. One purchase covers the family through Family Sharing.
Is there a Qardbox for Android?
