What is in this deck

Two things are held to: where units differ by country, both are given (mg/dl and mmol/l). And where men and women have different ranges, both are shown rather than an average that fits neither.
Reference ranges are not constants of nature: every laboratory sets its own and prints them on the report.
The categories decide what comes up: start with “Blood count” alone and add the rest when you are ready.

Greek leukos means white, kytos cell. Not only infections raise the count: so do stress, smoking, cortisone and pregnancy, while some viral infections and chemotherapy lower it.
